About Mandarin Sport Fishing Club
Hello fellow Mandarins and all anglers

Many years ago a handful of keen sport-fishermen living in Hong Kong who wanted to catch big game fish, namely marlin, sailfish, wahoo, mahi mahi and tuna, put together this Club and participated in overseas fishing tournaments. They participated in prestigious tournaments such as Hawaii International Billfish Tournament, the Philippines International Gamefishing Tournament and many more. On overseas tournaments, we see and meet old and new friends, enjoy each other's hospitality, admire the beautiful countryside. The Mandarins are also adventurous in spirit and made their splashes in the water covering Hawaii, Australia, Africa, south east asia and many other parts of the world. Throughout the years, the Mandarins earned respectable results in these tournaments and our reputation grew along with making many new friends. Nowadays we participate in overseas tournaments and also arrange our own local events. In 1994, we helped to host the Asian Game Fishing Tournament in Hong Kong where teams all over South East Asia participated such as Japan, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and Korea. The event was a success and very memorable. The Club continues to participate in overseas tournaments and also nice to see our overseas' friends....

The myth of Hong Kong does not yield any game fish was shattered some years ago some adventurous Mandarins ventured off outside of Hong Kong, the first marlin a rod and reel was caught. Since then, we have made more trips and a lot more marlins along with many other game fish species were subsequently caught.

As a Mandarin, conservation is always on our mind and encourages our members to release their catch. The club actively supports PORF and IGFA, which are international fishery bodies, regard to the knowledge, management and conservation of all gamefish. We are also in support of the local conservation program recently proposed by the Government of the Hong Kong SAR.

Nowadays, 30 years onwards, we have more than 80 members locally and abroad. We look for a broad spectrum of members who are prepared to work together and make an effort in terms of contribution for the better of the Club and also share the knowledge in fishing. We also have a family and junior members category within the Club. We are also a very sociable Club and hold regular social meeting and more often than not, it is done over a few drinks to share over our fishing experience. Cheers.
