Barra on a fly
See the pictures in the Gallery
When you said to me the other day that you started to fly fish at the age
of 40 years old, I thought to myself I could try to give it a shot for the fun
of it. Fifty years old is never too late!
So I just did it yesterday. My very first try ever with the fly. My amigo
Philippe Pletincx, from Belgium, currently fishing with me, has brought his SAGE
# 8 to play with Barramundi. He was very kind to lend me his fly rod. I did
quite well for a first shot. I landed two big Barra (tippet 20lb), losing a
couple unhooked.
I understand a bit more now why you fly fisho guys are so hooked on that
method. I had a great time myself playing them Barra with the fly rod,
man!
Of course I'm far to be ready to target a world record with a 2lb tippet
yet.....and my style will never be the one of a Billy Pate but of a
novice....but as long as I can catch a few fish with the fly it is good enough
to me!
Best regards,
